SmartyPig is a free, FDIC-insured online savings platform offered through Sallie Mae Bank, designed to help users save for specific financial goals. It allows individuals to set personalized savings objectives—such as vacations, home down payments, or emergency funds—and track their progress through intuitive goal-setting tools. With competitive interest rates, no fees, and features like automatic deposits, SmartyPig encourages consistent saving habits. Accessible via web and mobile apps, SmartyPig provides a user-friendly experience to support both short- and long-term savings aspirations.
Role: Lead UI/UX & Web Designer
Over the course of an eight-year+ partnership with Sallie Mae, I led the visual evolution of SmartyPig, a goal-based savings platform, through a comprehensive brand refresh, a full website redesign, and the development of engaging, award-winning social media campaigns. The rebrand established a playful yet trustworthy identity that resonated with millennial savers, while the website redesign prioritized clarity, mobile usability, and goal-tracking functionality. In parallel, I crafted a suite of social campaigns that elevated the brand’s voice, increased user engagement, and garnered industry recognition. This collaboration solidified SmartyPig’s presence as a standout digital savings tool in the fintech space.
